Delicious! Wonderful owners who add love to all their recipes! Tender meats, flavorful side dishes, and potato salad for people like me who don't like mayonnaise. Feels like home here.

What an absolute delight this place was. El Mofongo provides exceptional food, service and hospitality. Martha, one of the owners makes you feel like you're in her household kitchen - providing background of the restaurant, the hard work her and her husband (who is the chef behind the amazing food) put in daily to the business, and the bonus part...samples of their best dishes. We came for a traditional dominican breakfast and left with food for the next few meals! The Sammy Sosa mofongo is probably one of the best I've had in the Long Island area. Their fresh lemonade is a delightful refresher (can't wait to grab one on a hot summer day). We had samples of Martha's pistachio cake and tres leches, which warranted a take out order of both, along with the sancocho, chicken, and arroz con gandules. The arroz con gandules...by far the best I've ever had. We cannot wait to try this spot again in the near future and look forward to using them for any upcoming catering or large events as they offer great priced catering, baked cakes and family combos. Thank you for your amazing hospitality and for the delicious nap worthy meal!

Wow wow wow this place is simply legendary. I came across this place due to a last minute issue with my go-to place in Queens. Turns out that this other place was closed for NYE and I had already put out the word that we were ordering Dominican food for this day. So i scrambled and hopped on yelp to find another spot a few days before the 31st, and I came across this place on yelp. I decided to pay this place a visit with my mother and my cousin, thinking that it would be best to sample the place before placing a large order for 10 plus people. Called them and asked if a Thursday would be too late to place a large order and they said no. Ventured over and met the owners, who immediately welcomed us and began offering samples of almost everything they had to offer. Everything we tried was delicious - from the pernil, to the chuleta al horno, habichuelas negras & rojas, costillas de cerdo... it was all amazing. We sat with the owner (i'm really bad with names and this was for NYE) and started consulting with her about portions and suggestions. We ended up placing a large order of arroz con gandules, costillas de cerdo, pollo al horno, pernil, small order of both frijoles, and a side order of maduros. I believe the total for the order was around $250 and we left a deposit of $100 that same day. When we finished up the order for NYE we went up and placed an order each for a nice lunch. The owner even gave us un pastel de tres leches for us to try it. Her tres leches is extremely popular and famous. Everyone who ate was in love with the food we provided on NYE day. It was absolutely epic and this is now the place we will continue to order from. Even if the drive is about 30 min. Ahhh her name is Martha! And she's an absolute legend of a human. So kind, welcoming, and helpful

Never the one to review... I was told to put a review about this restaurant. Outstanding. I been going to this restaurant for years. I live in suffolk county but when I do get a chance to stop for a taste, the visit is always an A+++ The owners always remember me especially Martha. They invite you as family with a home like atmosphere. If you looking for a rowdy place, this place is not for you. Im not a crazy eater but the chicken empanadas. Amazing. The shell is flaky. Not too hard nor soft. The meat was flavorful not dry. But the mango tres leche. The best tres leche cake on Long Island even before Campbells bakery. I had all their flavors, pistachio, cuatro tres leche, strawberry etc. I went to restaurants and the cake is dry and the frosting is not enough or does not have the whipped cream feel to it. Some people prefer it that way. I don't. Recommend it. It will catch you off guard by surprise.

Clean, no frills restaurant with friendly owners working at the restaurant. Mofongo is made to order, shrimp is cooked perfectly. The portions are generous and worth the money. There are two tables that can easily accommodate 4 adults per table. Chicharrones are surprisingly good, crunchy, while not super dry in the middle. Tres leches is another surprising find and as good as any fancy cafes.

I'd wanted to try this place based on the number of 5 star reviews. Got a chance to stop in today. First impression is not great. This place is a neighborhood spot- which I'm always a fan of. The display cases had spilled liquid and was actually not very appealing. I wondered if I should order because the cleanliness wasn't very obvious but I plowed along anyway. I wouldn't want to dine in so I did takeout. The server was VERY polite and friendly. I took that as a good sign. I ordered the pepper steak with yellow rice and plantains. My order was nicely plated and wrapped to go. The taste of the rice was great although the texture was a bit more mushy than I liked. The pepper steak was just okay for me. My neighborhood Dominican restaurant (in Freeport) is still undefeated. Nice people- okay place.

Back again and it's even better. Not only was the food quality unrivaled, but Marta took Tres Leches to new high heights. You've never had this Mango tres leches and by my tastebuds that are still buzzing, it's the right way to go for desert. This time I got the Manny Ramirez Mofongo with Shrimp, pork belly and the signature garlic flavor. All of my senses came alive within the first bite. If there was a reason to be alive this would be it. Perfectly cooked shrimp so juicy and plump, this Mofongo is made fresh to order so don't mind the 15 minutes. It is packed with so much flavor you'd wish it never ended. I'm slowly trying this whole menu and I haven't been dissatisfied with anything. Service is outstanding as usual and Marta is very pleasant to talk to. Ambiance is chill and laid back like a Dominican diner. Their catering is something I'd recommend all day long!! Come and see for yourself.
